Qi  (Iris) Li - Alto Saxophone

Qi (Iris) Li, a Chinese-born saxophonist, completed her Bachelor and Master of Music Studies (Performance) at the Sydney Conservatorium, Bachelor of Music (Honours) at the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music.

Since 2017, Qi has been an active soloist, performing in major cities such as Sydney, Melbourne, and Beijing, and travels internationally for saxophone events. During her Honours year, she focused her thesis on exploring the classical saxophone works with Chinese background — reflects her deep interest in cultural fusion and musical storytelling. In the same year, she started a concert series called Traveller.

Qi’s musical passion stems from its ability to bring people together. She loves to explore a variety of musical styles from different cultures, and observe the interaction between this music and audiences of different cultural backgrounds.

Marcus Ho - Tenor Saxophone

Marcus is a Hong Kong-born Australian saxophonist active in performing both locally and internationally. Currently studying at the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music under Dr. Joseph Lallo and Dr. Yo-Yo Su.

As a former student of Gerard McChrystal during his time in the UK, Marcus was exposed to both the neo-classical and contemporary sides of the saxophone's repertoire. This culminated in his concerto performance of Dave Heath's "The Celtic" with orchestra at the age of 18.

A member of the Ocean Saxophone Quartet and a founding member of the Metro Saxophone Quartet, Marcus is enthusiastic about exploring the instrument's ability to fit in a wide range of settings, from piano trios to large symphonic ensembles. He is equally passionate about the saxophone's ability to express a vast array of characters, and taking advantage of its flexibility as a solo instrument.

Jason Ji - Baritone Saxophone

Jason Ji, a Chinese-Australian saxophonist and educator, recently completed his Bachelor of Music (Honours) at the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music. Starting saxophone at the age of twelve, his passion evolved through tertiary studies with Dr. Joseph Lallo and Martin Hemingway. Jason excels in chamber music, having participated in groups such as Odyssey Saxes, 4AM Saxophone Quartet, and the Ocean Saxophone Quartet.

His ensembles have performed internationally, including the Asia Pacific Saxophone Academy in Bangkok (2019, 2024), the Singapore Saxophone Symposium (2019) and the World Saxophone Congress in Harbin (2025). As a soloist, Jason is keen on developing both Chinese and Asian-Australian works for the saxophone. Rooted in his Beijing heritage, Jason seeks to explore Chinese identity through music, aiming to bring it, along with classical music, to diverse audiences. Furthermore, Jason currently teaches a private studio of 10+ students, hoping to nurture the next generation of saxophone players.
